What Would You Do To Denise Milani

But what is a Christiania bike?

Ah ah ah, you believe in having at last Christiania and finished with the bike? Hey uh, now I put the two together, and I get a Christiania bike.

As you can see from the photos, a Christiania bike is actually a tricycle, a bicycle with three wheels and a wooden front. It was invented in Christiania (as you might have suspected) in the 80's by a man named Lars Engström. Indeed, cars are banned in the Free City, he had to find an alternative way to tote his business or his kids.

FYI, the original workshop, Christiania SMED ( "Forge of Christiania" ) still exists and is even the oldest company in the Free City. Today, it serves as point of sale and repair the bikes are now manufactured on the island of Bornholm, off the coast of Sweden.

Since its commercialization, success was withering and quickly exceeded the bounds of hippie village to spread throughout the country. It's simple, Copenhagen, Christiania bike is simply an element of decor. Far from being a mere eccentric cycling is a concept, it reflects the lifestyle of Denmark. You tell me that it's easier when you have bike lanes as wide as motorways, but good.

And the Christiania bike is not that the parents happy! It is also highly appreciated by a lot of professionals, such as:

factors

cleaners municipal

street vendors

taxi drivers bicycle

advertisers

artists and oddballs

and of course the big lazy!

Visit City Hall

Today, for a change, I to present one of the most emblematic monuments Copenhagen's City Hall.

He's tall, he is beautiful and we absolutely can not miss it, anyway its belfry is one of the tallest buildings in Copenhagen. In Danish it is called Rådhuset (literally "house counsel"). Like most of his colleagues around the world, it is situated on a large bustling square, favorite gathering place for residents. Its architecture is signed by the Dane Martin Nyrop and is inspired by the town hall of Siena. The building is actually quite recent, having been inaugurated only in 1905.

can be seen on the front a large golden statue:

This is the Bishop Absalon who founded the city in 1167

Who topped it :

This symbol then, is of course the shield Copenhagen

It was proposed by King Frederik III in 1661, but the three towers and the waves were already the seal dated 1296. Water recalls the original name of the city, "Havn" , which means "port". The towers on the right and left represent the castle of Absalom and the central tower is a church in the castle. Over time, the tower became the entrance to the castle and a knight brandishing a sword was added. Today, we find this little drawing absolutely everywhere in the city declined in all colors:

To return to the City Hall, if you fancy going visit (and see even more small shields) , please! It is open to visitors every day except Sunday

Open: from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and on Sat 10:00 to 13:00
Ascent Tower: 20 kr at 11am and at 14h on weekdays and 12pm on Sat
Discover English buildings: 30 kr at 15h on weekdays and 10am on Sat
Visit the Astronomical Clock: 10 kr

For the tour, I must admit that I made miserably duped: he the claim must go to home and be more than four, I think. Do not know, I missed the hour. However, I went wandering in some rooms, my faith very pretty, but no explanation is less interesting. I personally have not seen the astronomical clock of Jens Olsen, but here is some info on it . When to climb the belfry, I think it is clear the shot. Its 105 m high, it enjoys excellent views of Tivoli and the city center:

In fact, little thing to pass: if you want to see the city from on high another point of view, you can also ride atop the beautiful steeple of Vor Frelsers Kirke.

With its spiral staircase outside that narrows gradually as you climb, it's more fun. And here you can admire the Christianshavn district:

particular channel ...

and of course the famous hippy town!
