opinion & advice of a visitor zarzis
Not to be missed
For exotic vacation, I recommend the south of Tunisia between sea and mountains, close to the desert and the Great Lakes region of Zarzis salés.La less known than its close neighbor Djerba is a veritable haven of peace and opens doors to many facets of Tunisia.
Whether you're tanning on the beach or walk, you will be served. I suggest a little trip away from the hotels and areas tourists.
side beach: The beaches of Zarzis, along the "ridge" which is actually the road to the sea, are very nice. Day, they are quite popular, but no relation to the beaches of the hotels. Tunisians are morning people and prefer to swim before 11am. I advise you also to taste the charm of a sunrise, feet in water! Not to be missed (at least once during the holidays).
Then, the beaches are relatively quiet as the sun is pretty overwhelming.
After 17h, the road of the cornice to swarm again late into the night. It is a place of rendezvous privileged to share a glass of tea and a shisha with friends. Tea in Tunisia has nothing to do with the Moroccan mint tea. It is much stronger. I suggest you also take the opportunity to sample some fried fritters or a few loaves of bread stuffed sold on the beach, such as frills in France. That is excellent!
the evening for eating, the beach is ideal and relatively cheap. On the menu: Tunisian salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and tuna), accompanied by Brig tuna and eggs ... A real treat. Consider asking some of the dishes 'hara', that is to say no "spice "Because the Tunisians have a slight tendency to serve all the dishes very very spicy! Beware also of the delicious salad "méchoullia" generally served as an appetizer or snack. This is a chili paste and tomato, delicious to taste but for very sensitive and strong stomachs! Listed
city: Do not miss a walk in the city of Zarzis. It is a small town but very pleasant. On Saturday, there is a huge market near the station of "lease" a little outside of Zarzis. You take full eyes. Feel free to make round stalls and ask prices. Play the competition and negotiate. It is the national sport! The tariff rate Tunisian tourist and not all the same. If you are lucky enough to be accompanied by a Tunisian, take the opportunity to leave the "bargain" for you. Guaranteed results!
The shops of the city are colorful and reasonable prices. To fill a little peckish, I recommend a pastry and a glass of lemonade purchased at the blue shop located just inside the entrance of the souk. This is the best in town. My
places
To restore
- The restaurants of the cornice are all correct. I had no bad surprises. I advise you all the same those at the center of the cornice (those with terrace floor), because in addition to enjoy the view, you will have a larger estate.
- In the center town of Zarzis, you will find at the roundabout instead of November 7, my favorite bakery. It can recognize its facade blue, just left of the entrance to the souk.
- To make a tea or shisha: bars of the cornice are very nice, but you will also find in town, Sidi Boussaïd (March 20th Avenue) is a huge Moorish cafe, which in my opinion, the best tea and shisha in town. To make shopping
-course of the souq the shops will open their doors, but there is also a great seamstress Road Bengarden.
- To avoid the tourist zone Ultra, you can test the souk el Mouensa .- For shoes, I have no specific position in Zarzis, by cons if you have the courage to brave the heat, go to Medenine and there you will find your happiness. There is a great craftsman in the shopping street.
A report in his luggage
Ladies, do not leave without Zarzis bring with you a traditional dress. You can find it for ten dinars on the market. They are often very beautiful and very comfortable to wear (according to my mother!).
For about 15 or 20 dinars, you can even make it to a tailor-made. Guys probably do not resist the charm of leather shoes or slippers handmade.
Finally, decorating end, I suggest you bring some dishes, each more beautiful than each other.
Bring in your luggage
Leave your suitcases in the basement! A backpack and a small travel bag will be amply sufficient. Allow one or two shorts, t-shirts, your swimsuit and a sweater very end.
note, insects can be quite voracious ... For your convenience, hotel or a rental, you can take an anti-mosquito plug. For young children, or if you can stand the heat poorly, expect also a mist of water.
Do not forget your tube of sunscreen. You'll of course the opportunity to buy there, but often at rates far higher than in France.
Info practices
A simple identity card is enough to enter the territory of Tunisia when you are going stay organized. Otherwise, you will need a valid passport. On arrival at the airport, stay calm. Customs formalities can be lengthy and customs in no hurry. We must take time to adapt to the pace and Tunisia!
