A friend recently passed me the address of a site for which I totally cracked: it's called Scandinavia And The World and it hilarious. This is a site for comics cartoon relations between Scandinavia and the rest of the world. The designer is Danish :-)
following main characters:
Denmark is considered among the Nordic countries as the most relaxed (and most tolerant vis-à-vis alcohol). Swedes see the Danes as lazy and not knowing self-control, and in Norway they are seen as people concerned about their personal comfort.
Sweden is seen as the most advanced country in terms of technology, the most geek (that's why the Swedes wearing glasses). In Norway they are seen as snobs and arrogant and Denmark are seen as quite stuck, but losing all control of themselves when they come to Denmark to drink cheap beer. And no need to specify the image of Swedish!
Norway is seen as the country most in touch with nature. Swedes see as the species crados fishermen and Danish people view them as quiet and friendly.
The other Nordic countries (non-Scandinavians) are very present, especially Finland and Iceland:
The stereotype of Finns is an alcoholic man, silent and armed with a knife.
When the Icelanders, they are considered more beautiful than the other Nordic countries. They also have a reputation for daredevils, extreme sports enthusiasts.
So of course we see other countries including the United States, the United Kingdom ... (And even a bit of France). What I appreciate is that all the jokes are explained as they are sometimes difficult to understand for foreigners. They may relate to historical subjects or topics. In any case, they are all extremely informative on how the Norse see themselves and see the world!
